Splice Tutorial
Splicing is probably the most common type of spriting. Splicing is when you take two or more Pokémon and fuse them together. You can fuse many different Pokémon to make a completely random fake Pokémon (not recommended for beginners) or you can use one Pokémon as a base and add parts of other Pokémon to it. Since you could be a beginner or an expert reading this, I'll make a guide for both!
Beginner/ normal
Since most of you are probably beginners, we'll use two sprites. Sneasel and Umbreon!
When you are choosing your sprites, make sure that they are the official Nintendo sprites! You can get these from Pe2k or any other reliable source.
Note: Do not copy the sprites straight from the source. Usually the background will become black and if you just recolor that black background to white, it will ruin the outline on many sprites. So, just hit the "prt scrn", or print screen, button while viewing the page with the sprite and hit paste on a paint document. You'll have a picture of your screen along with the sprite from that page!
Since I used Sneasel as a base, I recolored it to Umbreon black. Do the same with yours.
Now that you have recolored it to what you want, you can move on to the fusing! First, I will erase all of the parts that I don't want anymore:
Eeew! That doesn't look very appealing... :P Now I'll take those awesome ears from Umbreon and stick them right on Sneasel. And maybe I'll add that matching tail too! ;D
Much better! Now how about some markings? Let's take that ring from Umbreon's head and paste it right on Sneasel's head! 8D
And we're finished! When you make your sprite, make sure not to go too overboard with the parts. It may make the sprite look messy! =P
